Henderson Update

Things have been changing around here yet again, and we sure are busy!
Here's what we've been up to...

Jason: Started working a new job up on campus as a bus driver. He really likes it a lot and it is a lot less stressful than Olive Garden. Since he stopped working at Olive Garden we get to see him on weekends and holidays which hasn't happened in YEARS! Jason also got a new calling as the ward clerk and that has him busy attending bishopric meetings and keeping the ward organized.

Jen: Once Jason got his new job, I was able to quit working at TJ Maxx and stay home with Marlene. My schedule was conflicting with Jason's too much and so I put in my 2 weeks awhile back. I'm so glad to be out of that stressful/crazy atmosphere and have fun at home with my baby girl. I also just got a new calling as the 2nd Sunday Relief Society teacher. I taught this last week and it was great!

Marlene: Our crazy girl now has 11 teeth, including 2 molars with a 3rd poking through. She is also completely done with bottles! (Can I get an AMEN?!) The transition went really smooth, and she now drinks milk out of a sippy cup twice a day. Thankfully, she really likes sleep and doesn't need a bottle to crash at the end of the day.

Right now she likes:
sitting in her new pink chair
watching bubble guppies and saying "Bubble! Bubble!"
climbing on EVERYTHING
following us down the hall
any chance she gets to play in her room
playing in water (either bath or outside)
being loud at church
wrapping herself up in her blankie
saying "Uh oh" every time she drops something
sneaking things off the table or counter
eating Applejacks
When she sees Daddy for the first time in awhile, and excitedly says: "Hi dada!"

She doesn't like:
getting in trouble for sneaking things off the table or counter
when the fridge is opened (It is her life mission to close that door!)
long car rides/sleeping in the car
when mommy tries to feed her things with a spoon
waking up sweaty
when someone goes outside without her

We've had lots of fun introducing Marley to new things like sprinklers and kiddie pools lately to beat the heat. We have a water baby on our hands here, and she is not scared at all! This is from a few weeks ago where we introduced her to this toy:

We're also going to start introducing Marley to nursery at church which will hopefully go well. She's not a clingy baby by any means, I'm just mostly worried about her being cranky. Church is during nap time, so we might have a few meltdowns.
Our little family is enjoying some down time after being busy with trips to Disneyland and my mom coming to visit last week. We're barbequing a lot, eating ice cream, and having fun playing with our crazy girl.

Lately

I was clearing out my camera and found some funny videos to share. We've been having lots of fun with Marley lately and she's always doing something silly!

This first video is us playing with a circle block that Marley likes to walk around with, that makes her have a "piggy nose." She'll hold it in her mouth with her teeth, and no hands which is hilarious! It was just a few days ago that she tried to give mommy a piggy nose too, and this is what happened:
She thought it was so funny!!

On this last Sunday we spent a lot of time outside. Marley got to play in her new pack-n-play, and she had a blast. We were sitting around outside visiting with our neighbors when we noticed she was doing this:
Probably the funniest thing I've ever seen her do.

We love our silly girl! She always keeps things interesting around here.

Baby Proofing...again

We have had multiple phases in baby proofing our apartment. First it was when Marley started to crawl, then again when she started to walk, and now yet AGAIN when she figured out how to open the hall closet.

Now, we're not idiots. We had already purchased a baby proof lock so that Marley could not slide the closet doors. What we didn't plan for, was her realizing that they could swing. The doors only have a track on the top, so Marlene learned earlier this week that she could swing them outward and crawl right into the closet. Babies are so smart!

So after a day of trying to block the doors with chairs, we realized this wasn't going to work. She could have hurt herself because the doors could swing out pretty far. We decided that we could take them off, use curtains to hide the shelves, and then Marlene could be safe.

Now she is in heaven, and thinks that the closet is her personal play nook. Here's some video of the day we cleaned out the closet, but hadn't taken the doors off yet:

This little girl is non-stop, ALL day. We're just trying to stay one step ahead and
keep her out of trouble!

First Trip to the Park

Last week the stars finally aligned and Jason had some free time to come with us to the park. I'm the sentimental type and wanted him to be there for Marley's first trip to the park,
so we've been waiting.

The weather was great, so we walked down the street to the neighborhood park. We had so much fun, and Marley didn't want to leave. The park is actually SUPER nice and has like 4 individual "little parks" to spread things out.

We ended up running into two mom's from our ward who have little boys a few months older than Marley and had fun chatting. We talked about planning times to get together at the park over the summer, which would be really great.

First Year Video Round Up

Its time to celebrate a year of cuteness! Our sweet baby girl will officially be one this week, and I thought I would share some of my favorite videos from this past year:

Isn't she just the best?! We have such a fun, crazy girl. Can't wait to see what she has in store for us this next year...

Video Round Up

I've taken a few more videos of Marlene the past few weeks and wanted to post them so they don't just sit in a folder on my computer.

She's been doing some pretty cute stuff lately...

This was a cute moment I caught when Jason was making silly noises and Marlene loved it:

This is the best "giggle video" we've gotten of her so far:

This one she's making "raspberries" with her lips:

Here she was getting very distracted by our loud air conditioner:

Making bubbles is her new favorite thing:

I was trying to feed her and all she wanted to do was talk:

We have such a silly girl! Its fun to document all the cute things she does.

Video Round Up

Lately I've taken lots of short videos of our sweet little girl, because she's been acting extra cute! I wanted to get them all in once place for grandparents to see (and for future reference), so that's the reason for this post.

Hope she brings a smile to your face!

This is by far my favorite video! I've watched it a bunch of times because her face is so hilarious! She has always been a very expressive baby, but those eye brows crack me up.

We finally figured out what makes her giggle! Right now she'll laugh if you tickle her sides or mess with her feet.

This is a video of an everyday occurance: Marlene grabbing her toys. Only recently has she started talking to them.

We still swaddle Marlene to help her sleep and every time she gets unwrapped she does this with her arms...as if to say "I'm FREE!!"

I left her alone for 5 minutes and came back to find Marlene on her side! Apparently she's done this once before while I was at work. I wish I could have seen how she got to this point.

Our sweet Marlene cracks us up everyday with the silly things she does!
Stay tuned for more cute videos...

Family Fun!

My Memorial Day weekend was great! It started out with going to my Great Uncle Elden's funeral in Pocatello, and then included lots of eating out, watching tv,
and spending time with family.

The funnest parts of these trips down to Utah is getting to see my niece Evie!! She's turning into such a little lady and its so fun to watch.

She's talking up a storm now and I thought I'd share with you some funny Evie moments from the weekend:

-Thursday night we were eating Nacho's and I was sitting next to her, and after like 5 minutes she just randomly started eating the food off of my plate! I was like,
well help yourself

-When she and I were shopping on Friday we saw a bird and she said something about it flying high in the sky, and so I said can you fly? And she looked at her arms, scruched her nose and said: "No, I don't have wings!" Sounding VERY disappointed.

-Sunday morning when we were getting ready for Church she wanted to be in the room with me while I was getting dressed. I was in my underwear when she asked me what they were. I said these are my "Unders." (thats what my family has always called underwear) And she responded with: "they're so pretty!"

-Also on Sunday she and I were putting our shoes on, and we both had shiny black shoes so I said, "Look! Our shoes are the same!" and she was like: "No, yours don't have a bow on them!" Well, excuse me!

-She saw this picture of me in my wedding dress as my desktop backround, and said
"Oh! Princess!! Pretty!"

-I got her a sing a long DVD for her birthday and one of the songs is meant to get kids moving and the chorus says "Work your body, everybody. Work your body everyday" and for whatever reason it stuck! She kept running around the house saying: "Work your body! Work your body!" OVER AND OVER!
