Tutorial Tuesday: More Felt Flowers!

Hello all! I just have to share with you the project that I have been working on this past week. If you remember I shared a tutorial I found at iheartnaptime
These flowers are so easy to make, I love it!
But what I like to do is look for ways to tweak crafts and make them my own.

So I took this tutorial and figured out a way to make a flower with two colors!
All you have to do is follow the tutorial from iheartnaptime,
but before rolling up the flower, glue two different colors together:
This is my new favorite craft!
I've gone a bit cray cray:
In my defense I have a niece, a friend who just had a baby girl,
and one thats due in June. Their little ones are getting hooked up BIG TIME.

200th Post/My latest obsession

200 posts ago I had no idea what this blog was really going to be about. I really love having a place to share my thoughts, ideas, life, and interests. Even though its our "family" blog, I'm pretty sure Jason hasn't looked at it in years. Thats ok, this way I don't feel guilty about not keeping a journal.

Anyways, on to my latest obsession...
My oldest sister Nellie is an assistant manager at Old Navy and has worked there for YEARS. While at work she would come across REALLY cheap baby clothes and stash them away.

About 6 months ago I was wandering around Target and found myself in the baby
section looking at the clearance.
They had stuff for $2,
and thus my baby stash was born!
I have to keep myself in check so that I don't go crazy buying things for a baby that doesn't exist.
Here are my rules:
-Never buy anything over $3.
(Fight the urge!)
-Buy equal amounts of boy & girls stuff
(I'm always tempted to buy only cute girly outfits, but you never know!)
-Look for bigger sizes
(When my brother was born, 90% of the clothes given to us were 0-3 months.)
-Don't buy more than 3-5 outfits at a time.
(Its easy to get carried away when things are cheap, but it adds up.)
-Always raid stash before shopping for baby shower gifts. (How I justify having this stash in the first place!)

I'm surprised Jason humors me and lets me buy things, but sticking to my rules helps! =)
Here's some favorites from my stash...
I do have a confession to make,
I splurged the other day at
Old Navy and bought this:
for about $10. I couldn't help myself!! =)

Happy Shopping!

V-Day Printables

Even though I just got my house all put back together after Christmas decorations took over, I can't help but think about the next holiday...VALENTINES DAY!

This has always been one of my favorite holidays.
(I seem to gravitate towards holidays that involve lots and lots of candy.)

In preparation for your decorating, I thought I'd make some printables that are quite fitting for this month:

Home Sweet Home

Raise your hand if decorating for Christmas totally takes over your ENTIRE house....
Yeah, I finally have my house back together and I LOVE it!!
With the help of my new best friend:
Command Picture Hanging Strips
I was able to do all this:
And we finally got around to hanging some engagement photos:
 And other crafty things:
Its funny how it only took us two years to get settled in.

Its never too early...

Valentines Day is coming!! I saw this cute, easy decoration idea on Pinterest and decided to try it.
One small problem...the directions are in either Chinese or Japanese! Luckily, the picture is pretty self-explanatory. The only thing I had to guess at was the dimensions.

Here's what I did:
*Make sure the felt isn't flimsy*
-I cut out two pieces of felt, 3in x 12
(The length determines how many hearts you will be able to cut, I got 17.)
-Then I followed the pictures by sewing the two sides together.
-Flip the felt around, pin, and then sew again.
-Cut hearts about 1/2 in. thick.
(I didn't draw lines like in the photo, I just eye-balled it.)
Turned out pretty good!! I'm thinking of making a garland that matches our everyday decorations because this is so cute, and EASY!!

Funny Friday: Silly Sayings Edition

I had a hard time figuring out how to define this group of pins from my Funny Things pinterest board. They're pictures that people added words to, and thats what makes them HILARIOUS!!

Harry Potter Printables

Since this is my "summer" vacation from school, I've decided to re-read all the Harry Potter books. My little brother has read them literally a THOUSAND times, but I've only read them once (with the exception of book 7).

There are some great quotes in those books, by Dumbledore because he was THE MAN, and I thought I'd make some printables out of them.

Wouldn't these go great in a Harry Potter themed playroom?
