Video Round Up

I've taken a few more videos of Marlene the past few weeks and wanted to post them so they don't just sit in a folder on my computer.

She's been doing some pretty cute stuff lately...

This was a cute moment I caught when Jason was making silly noises and Marlene loved it:

This is the best "giggle video" we've gotten of her so far:

This one she's making "raspberries" with her lips:

Here she was getting very distracted by our loud air conditioner:

Making bubbles is her new favorite thing:

I was trying to feed her and all she wanted to do was talk:

We have such a silly girl! Its fun to document all the cute things she does.

Our Week With Family

Last week was so much fun, because we got to spend it with family! Jason has a brother and sister who live in California and they finally got to meet Marlene.

Heather and Mason got to Utah on Monday and we were able to meet up at Olive Garden in Murray for dinner.
It was extra fun because Jason was working that night and he got to be our server. It was so great that Marley got to meet her Auntie and Uncle, I could tell she liked them right away.

Tuesday we drove down to Cedar Hills and Jason went hiking into the Timpanogos Caves with his mom, sisters, and brother while Marley, Me, and Grandpa stayed home. (There was a limit to the number of people they could take on the tour.)
We had fun hanging out in the nice, air conditioned house...
Wednesday we had another calm day at home, while Jason, Heather, and Mason went sky diving. They had a blast doing that, and everyone arrived back home safely. After that the whole family chilled out at our house and then later on we did fireworks!
We also did some relaxing outside, and it was so fun to catch these precious moments with Marlene, her Uncle Mason and Grandpa.

Thursday we met up with family to have dinner with Jason's grandparents in Bountiful. Afterwards we had fun taking some family pictures.
Marlene loved all the attention she got from everyone last week and now she's just left with boring mom and dad to entertain her. We can't wait to visit her aunt and uncle again!

Now You Know...

I have a few things I need to get off my chest about what you shouldn't do around a baby or that babies mom...

-If you are a complete stranger to someone...DON'T TOUCH THEIR CHILD! Today the woman mopping the floor at McDonald's felt the need to play with my baby...SERIOUSLY?!

-When a baby is playing on the floor on a blanket...DON'T STEP ON THAT BLANKET! The whole reason I have my child on a blanket is because people walk all over the floor with dirty shoes.

-Think before you offer someone advice on how to take care of their child. A lot of mom's think they are experts, but what they really are is experts on how to take care of THEIR child. Every kid is different!!!

-If you see a mom pushing a stroller walking towards a non-automatic door, you should open it for her!! It is extremely awkward trying to do that on your own.

-If you wake up my sleeping baby, I have license to hate you for as long as it takes her to fall back asleep...and maybe longer! Our upstairs neighbors don't know it, but I hate/curse them on a daily basis.

-Use your common sense and don't think a baby dressed in pink, being pushed in a pink stroller, wearing a pink headband, is a boy!! I've had this happen more than you would think. (Face-palm!!)

That is all. Sorry for the mommy rant, but it had to be done!

Our Little Mover

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Marlene is moving around so much lately I keep joking with Jason that I want to take pictures of her at 2 minute intervals from the same spot to show how much she scoots around.

Today I finally did it! Enjoy:
That ring toy was the reason she kept moving around. Once she sets her eye on something she will scoot as hard as she can to get it. Eventually she gave up on her toys and was going after my toes in that last picture...

10 Things

Today is my sweet husband's birthday!
(Aren't these pictures the cutest?! I still can't believe how much Marlene looks like her daddy.)

Because today is Jason's day, I thought I would do a fun post with 10 things you might not know about Jason. Here we go:

1. He loves candles. Last week we spent about 30 minutes in the Yankee Candle store because they were having a sale and he had to smell each one.

2. He is a slave to sleep. Jason has the hardest time getting up in the morning, and would sleep past noon everyday if he could.

3. He loves to play video games. He gets so into what he's playing that if I've already gone to bed he will "accidentally" play till 3 am because he doesn't notice the time.

4. He is a snacker...with an EXTREME sweet tooth. This man can eat an entire sleeve of Oreos in the blink of an eye. (Many arguments have resulted in this...and that is why we do not share cookies.)

5. He LOVES to watch Sponge Bob! I've posted on Facebook a few times about how its fun to hear him giggling while watching that show, and its so true!

6. He's a smarty pants. Jason has the type of brain that understands REALLY complicated math and science problems. He's taken classes like trig, calculus, organic chemistry, and physics at the university level and gotten mostly A's.

7. He thinks Marlene's drool is the grossest thing in the world! (I'm talking worse than poop!) And the idea of letting her suck on his finger is just CRAZY to him. It cracks me up to watch him try to dodge the drool.

8. Jason's favorite hobby is ceramics. He's taken a few classes over the years and he is really good at it. We have a lot of things he's made around the house like vases, bowls, a tea pot, and a cookie jar.

9. He is a kid at heart. That is probably why he loves Sponge Bob so much, and also why our little niece Evelyn loves to play with him! I remember once when we were first married, we were babysitting her and he got down on the floor with her and they made a nest out of blankets for all her Easter eggs. (Also, Uncle Jason is a lot of fun to bounce with on the trampoline!)

10. He is VERY thoughtful. Even after we've been married over 3 years, when I ask him to pick where we should eat for dinner, he still answers with where he thinks I would like to eat. Also, he is very good at picking up on what needs to be done when it comes to taking care of Marlene. He's a very good daddy!

So there you have it! 10 things you probably didn't know about Jason. I'm lucky to have such an amazing husband who takes care of our little family and works so hard.

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!

Our Fourth

We had a lot of fun this year celebrating Independence Day. Since we recently moved to South Salt Lake, we were excited to learn there were a bunch of fun activities going on right by our house. We celebrated a little early on the 3rd because we both had the day off.

First, we had some business to take care of and took Marlene to the doctor for her 4 month checkup and the poor girl had to get some shots. When we were all done, we got on the freeway so she would fall asleep. We headed south down to the mall in Murray and had fun exploring it for the first time.

After a while we headed back home and grabbed some KFC for dinner (very American) and then Jason got to pick out some fireworks for an early birthday present. That’s a tradition of ours because he LOVES them.

Marlene went to sleep around 8, and then we got to go hang out with our neighbors outside. We’ve made some great friends here, and it’s nice to live around people our age. We had fun chatting outside, shooting off firecrackers, and then watching the city fireworks from our front yard. Marlene slept through EVERYTHING!

The morning of the 4th we got up early and walked down the street to watch South Salt Lake’s parade. It was so nice being able to just walk there, and we were only 10 minutes early and found a great spot in the shade.

Marlene LOVES being outside so I knew she would have a blast watching the parade. The sirens of the police motorcycles didn’t even scare her.
She actually smiled when they zoomed by.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and catching up on sleep since we stayed up pretty late. I love starting new traditions with my little family,
and I’m so grateful to live in this great country!

5 Month Update

Marlene recently had her belated 4 month checkup (it was actually right at 20 weeks which is technically the 5 month mark) and it was sure fun to see how much she’s grown!

At her 2 month appointment she weighed 11 pounds 8 oz and was 21.5 inches long. At this appointment we found out that she now weighs
14 pounds 13 oz and is 25.75 inches long.
Unfortunately the appointment wasn’t very much fun because first, the doctor decided to clean wax out of Marley’s ear which she did NOT like. (We’re talking the “no sound coming out” cry, she was SO mad.) And just in time for us to get her calmed
down from that she had to get three shots.
I am truly amazed every time our sweet baby has to get shots because she doesn’t let it ruin her day. She cried for about 5 minutes in the doctor’s office, but calmed down once we got on the freeway and then was fine the rest of the day. We went to the mall right after, and she was her normal happy self…squealing with joy as Daddy carried her so
she could see what’s going on.

We also got the green light from Marley’s doctor to start her on solid foods which is exciting. I hope she likes it! We’re excited to start using our “Baby Bullet” that Jason bought on clearance YEARS ago at Wal-Mart.

Our sweet girl is growing up so fast! I can’t believe she is already rolling over, practically crawling, and ready to start solid foods. Here’s how other things are going:

Marley Likes:
Busy, loud places
Riding in the baby carrier
Sleeping on her tummy
Eating her fists
Grabbing her toes
Sleeping in the swing
Sitting outside in the Bumbo
Grabbing toys
Being tickled in the ribs, back, and neck
Bouncing on Daddy’s knee (Sometimes puts her to sleep)

Marley Doesn’t Like:
Being covered in the car when awake
The vacuum
Laying on her back to play
When she can’t reach her toys

Stay tuned for more updates, our girl is growing up fast!
