Mackenzie Turns One

Our sweet, not-so-little baby is one! It is so hard to believe that a whole year as flown by since Kenzie was born. I can't imagine what life was like before this little sweetheart joined our family.

Read her birth story HERE
It all seems like a blur, but every day with this sweet girl is a blessing. She's a quiet little thinker, who doesn't give her smiles away for free. If you've ever met her, there's a good chance she has stared you down at some point.
I could just snuggle her all day, and she would probably let me. Kenzie is definitely a mamas girl, and lets me have it whenever I leave the room without her.

Over the last month Kenzie has changed so much! She got 2 more teeth, pulled herself up to standing for the first time, and is now walking along all the furniture in the house. All her chub is just going to melt now, she is on the move the WHOLE day.
Mackenzie Likes
digging through the toys bins, making a huge mess
standing at the baby gate, practically begging to be let out
Giggling with her sister
Crawling into the bathroom whenever possible
Waking up SOOOO early
Making the craziest noises
Sleeping in our bed when she's working on a new tooth

Mackenzie Doesn't Like
When every one is on the other side of the baby gate
Falling over while trying to figure out how to walk
When Marley steals toys from her
If Mom tries to see her new teeth
Smiling for just anyone, but she's getting better

As Kenzie starts to show more personality, I can't wait to see what the next year brings. Her one year check up is in a few days, so stay tuned for her stats!

Marley Stories: February

The other day it was just me and the girls at home, playing around and being silly. We were laughing and having fun and I said, "I have 2 silly girls!" Marley didn't skip a beat and points to me and says, "THREE silly girls!"

Marley was eating dinner in the high chair and I went to sit down, when I hit my knee really bad on the table. She could tell that I was hurt and said, "I kiss it better!" So I had to lift my knee up to her in the high chair so she could kiss my boo boo, and I didn't mind one bit.

Right now Marley is obsessed with the movie "A Bugs Life." She asked to watch it the other day, so I put it in and we sat down together on the couch. Marley snuggled up next to me, and I kissed her head and said, "I love you Marley." Then she looked me in the eyes and said, "I love these bugs!"
For Christmas, Marley got some stacking blocks. We were playing with them in her room and she was building a tower on her bed. As it got taller, the tower began to wobble. Marley got nervous and said, "Oh no! Its getting tower-y"

Marley, Kenzie, and I were in the kitchen eating breakfast when this conversation took place:
Marley: "Mommy has big feet! Kenzie has little feet!"
Me: "...and Marley has medium feet!"
Marley: (gasps) "Yeah, SURE!"
On our last shopping trip to Costco, we camped out in front of the TV playing "Inside Out" at Marley's request. We were watching for awhile when an older gentleman walked by. Marley noticed him very said to me very seriously, "That is NOT grandpa." I had to laugh because he didn't resemble either of Marley's grandpas, and that totally came out of nowhere.

Marley had never seen someone use the printer before just now. She was so amazed by the fact that paper was magically coming out. I was printing some of Kenzie's birthday decorations and Marley saw a giant letter "H" come out of the printer and she says,
"Is that the letter of the day...?"
