Mackenzie: 5 Month Update

It has been 5 months since our sweet Kenzie was born! She is such a bright light in our family, and brings us so much joy.
We won't know her exact weight until her appointment next month, but compared to how her sister was...she's HUGE! The weather needs to cool off fast because otherwise Kenzie isn't going to fit all of Marley's cute winter clothes.

Over the last month Kenzie has also gotten LOUD. She loves to squeal all the time, especially while she's playing on the floor. We joke that she's our baby dinosaur because that's what she sounds like.

Mackenzie Likes
When someone finally picks her up out of the crib
Oversleeping and throwing a wrench into her routine
Kicking her little feet
Making her sister mad by being too loud
Playing on the floor and smacking her toys
Being outside
catching the eye of anyone
Giggling at her sister
Trying to sit up on her own
Being held...by ANYONE. She LOVES the attention

Mackenzie Doesn't Like
Being in one spot too long
Giving much notice before she's ready for bed
The Nose Frida
Having a poopy diaper
Staying asleep when getting out of the car
Sleeping without her noise machine

Big changes are coming for Kenzie in the next month. We've been working towards getting her sleeping without the swaddle, and its going great! For being such a high maintenance baby in the beginning, she's taking that really well. (Marley was a pain!)

We started by leaving one arm out, and then we eliminated a blanket (Our secret weapon for achieving the ultimate swaddle). Now she always gets both arms out through the night, but stays asleep. We now just loosely wrap her to help her calm down and fall asleep, but in about a week maybe...that will be gone too!

Once she doesn't need to be swaddled anymore and is used to sleeping that way, we will move Kenzie out of our room and in to share with Marley!

Another change this month is we are going to start "solid foods." (That term always cracks me up, baby food is definitely NOT solid! HAHA!) She tried cereal and did well, and later this week we will venture out and maybe do sweet potatoes or bananas.
Kenzie has also become a rolling machine, and can go both ways now. She is doing a LOT better with tummy time, and I can tell it has helped strengthen her muscles. She also doesn't stay in the spot where I set her down anymore, whether she's on her back or tummy. So I know things are about to get interesting for sure!

Marley Stories: July

Every night when Jason comes home from work, I tell him the funny/cute things the kids have done. Right now, Marley is at such a funny age where she is talking up a storm. She is almost 2.5 and putting together full sentences that almost always crack us up.

I decided to start writing this post, and keep adding to it at the end of each day (hopefully!) so I can remember all the silly things this girl says and does.

Here it goes...

The other day we ordered pizza, and never mentioned it to Marley. After it was delivered, I closed the door and turned around and once Marley saw the boxes she rubbed her hands together and exclaimed, "PIZZA! I love it!!"

Brownies were baking in the oven. Marley walks into the kitchen, takes a big whiff through her nose and says, "I smell sumpin."

 Marley was sitting in the high chair eating dinner, and I was sitting at the table looking at my phone. Then, the eggo waffle I put in the toaster for her popped up and when I didn't get up right away, Marley started waving her hands at me saying "Stop! Stop!" and then she pointed at the toaster like, aren't you going to get my waffle?!

 We have a swing in our front yard, and Marley likes to count while I push her. We've started doing this thing where as I push her we count down from 10 to 1, and then shout "BLAST OFF!" One day after we did that, Marley then proceeded to say: "Beep-Boop-Beep-Boop...I a robot." In a monotone voice.

I know she picked this up from one of her shows...but lately when Marley is playing around by herself she will stick her pointer finger in the air and shout, "IDEA!" and then run off. She has also started putting her finger to her lips and saying, "Hmmm...lets think."

Lately Marley "loves" everything. We get ready to go, she says "I love these shoes!" or "I love this car!" We turn on the TV she says "I love this show!" Getting dressed..."I love this shirt!" It cracks me up. And sometimes she puts her little hands together while she says it. Also, keep in mind that when she says "Love" it sounds like "wub," making it a BILLION times cuter.

I recently hung a family picture in the kitchen near where Marley eats. She had been struggling to remember certain family members names (her uncles who share the same name), but the other day she looked at the picture and exclaimed, "TWO RYANS!!"

Things Marley says wrong, that are oh so cute:

Peaches = "Big Chips"
Twinkle Twinkle = "Crinkle Crinkle"
Buster Posey = "Buttered Toesies"
waffle = "awful"
Minnie Mouse = "mimi mouse"
Cheerios = "chee-woes"
