Lately...

I've been putting off posting on here because my laptop is visiting the geek squad, and I don't want to deal with putting pictures on Jason's computer. But, today I'm bored and feel like I should write about what we've been up to!

A few weeks ago I started working early morning custodial so my life has drastically changed. I'm an old woman now, so I have to be in bed by 9 or else I will be MISERABLE. I'm grateful for the opportunity to earn some extra money to pay for Jason's tuition.

Jason's still working at WalMart and taking a break from school. He got his associates back in December and is just waiting to start school at the University of Utah in the fall.

We've picked a moving date, and we'll be headed to Utah on July 28th. Words cannot express how excited we are!! We'll be moving into his parents' basement where we'll have two rooms and a bathroom all to ourselves.

Jason's going to transfer to a WalMart thats a few blocks away, and I'm going to work as a substitute teacher as many days as I can Monday-Friday.

I can't wait to live closer to family and friends!! My sister Suzanne is having a baby boy in September, and we're busy planning her awesome baby shower thats coming up in August.

Next up is a Larkin family reunion and
Evie's 4th birthday!

ps...56 days till graduation!!!!

Moms

I couldn't let Mothers Day go by without giving a shout out to the mothers in my life.

I'm so grateful for my mom. She is so patient, loving, hardworking, and awesome. She pretty much knows the answer to any cooking/cleaning/life questions.
I'm always calling her.
I'm also grateful for Jason's mom. She's such a sweet lady, and constantly tells me how much she loves me and is grateful I'm part of the family. She raised a pretty awesome son,
so she has to be something special.
Happy mothers day to all the mama's out there!

Weekend Happenings

Another week has flown by! Time goes a lot faster these days because there is so much to do! I was sure grateful for the sunshine this week.

Friday: I put Jason in charge of planning date night. He chose for us to take a walk to one of our favorite places: Sammy's! We chowed down on delicious burgers, then we walked around the craft store across the street.
Then we tried out Kiwi Loco:
I got strawberry lemonade flavored yogurt.
It was DELICIOUS!

Walking home the weather was just perfect:
Saturday: I was able to finally get Jason up early enough to make it to the gym. We worked out for about an hour and then came home. Jason planned our primary lesson and then headed off to work. While he was gone I did lots of homework
and then worked on some crafts.

Sunday: We had an interesting time with our primary kids today. One little boy decided to be a little terror and I had to take him out in the hall for "time out." It was exhausting!! After church we took a MUCH NEEDED nap, and then had a BBQ with my cousin Kelan and his wife Kalie. Its nice to have some family close by and we had fun
catching up and playing games.

Getting ready to start another week. I have a research paper due Wednesday. I almost made it through 4 years of college without having to do one. BOO!

Oh well, 67 days till graduation!

Tutorial Tuesday: Modpodge Blocks

I made these cute blocks for my sister's baby shower, and it was SUPER easy!
Here's what you need:
Plus wax paper, paint for the edges, and modpodge.
First step:
Paint the edges because thats the only part that will be seen.
Second Step:
measure the size of the square and subtract a quarter inch, thats how big your paper squares should be.
Third Step:
Paint a side with modpodge, the paper on it, and paint over it again. Make sure you don't set a side thats still wet face down on the wax paper...
I did that. Oops!

The most time consuming part of this craft is having to wait for the modpodge to dry so you can have a side to hold that isn't wet. Other than that,
it went pretty fast.
I love these baseball patterns!
Maybe we'll put this on the sign-in table?

Weekend Happenings

This past week seemed to fly by! I was waiting and waiting for Thursday to get here so I could find out if Suzanne was having a boy or a girl. (BOY!) That was the highlight of my week for sure.

Friday: The highlight of our weekend was DEFINITELY seeing The Avengers!!! Holy cow, that movie was SO good. Having all the super heros in one movie was REALLY cool. Afterwards we had some yummy sushi, it was the perfect day!

Saturday: I stayed home and did homework, homework, and more homework. Luckily I was motivated to have it done before Jason got off work at 3:30, and I did! I also finished the first of MANY crafts for baby Jackson's baseball shower.
(I'll post a tutorial later this week)
Close up:
(The solid blue is denim)

Sunday: We might have accidentally slept through stake conference. (Don't judge) The weather was AMAZING so I wanted to go do something outside. We took a drive up to Mesa Falls in the Targhee Forest, and it was beautiful!!
Time to start another week of craziness!
Graduation: 75 days

What We Ate: Cinco de Mayo edition

In honor of Cinco de Mayo Jason and I usually go to Taco Bell. This time I had all the fixins' for our own tacos so I made some instead.
I was trying this out for the first time and it was delicious!

(Don't you just love it when that happens?!)

All you need is:
 +
+
All I did was heat a pan with a little bit of oil, add 1 can of chicken (drained), and about a quarter of the sauce bottle.

I let the chicken and the sauce sit on low for about 5-10 minutes and then added some cheese.
Thats it! Dinner in less than 15 minutes.
We added some lettuce and a little ranch to ours and it was DELICIOUS!

Its a boy!

Its official, my sister is having a boy! Now I get to really go crazy planning one awesome baby shower. I'm super excited to plan things with my oldest sister, Nellie.

Even before we knew it was a boy, I was REALLY excited about the possibility of doing a baseball-themed shower. And now its going to happen.

I am so excited to plan a party with PINTEREST! I know I'm not the only person who is bitter there was no Pinterest when I was planning my wedding.

Here are some of the things I want to do:
Painted burlap
 (except spelling Jackson of course!)
 Those lanterns...the baseball cards!
LOVE the old fashioned decor and little apple pies!
 For the front door...
They have a doorway just like this!
Love this!

The invitations:
Having them look like real tickets is just the CUTEST idea ever.

The Cake:
Jackson's name would fit perfectly!

Can you tell I'm excited?!

Guilty.

Nothing makes feel more guilty/depressed than taking a nutrition class. Its not a bad thing, if you don't count the fact that reality has slapped me in the face.

I had to do one of those assignments where I keep a journal of all the foods I've eaten for 3 days. I entered them into this website today and I had actual proof that I'm a terrible eater.

So now I've decided to make a change and actually start eating fruits and vegetables, AND do something crazy like start drinking milk.
Baby steps.

I'll keep you posted!
