Shake It Out

At the risk of sounding like an old woman, can I complain about the music kids listen to today? I'm so over a lot of it. I went through the top songs on iTunes yesterday telling myself I could only buy ten songs. Thinking that I would want way way more, I was surprised I only found 6.

But...the song "Shake it Out" by Florence + The Machine is now my FAVORITE!! I love it, and was blasting it in the car today with the
windows rolled down.
Love it!
My favorite line is:

It's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off

Makes me feel like I can take on the world!
You should buy this song.

Easter Dress

I don't know about you, but when I was little I LOVED getting to pick out an Easter dress. So today I informed Jason that I should be allowed to still pick out an easter dress even though I'm 25, not 5. =)

So I've been looking online at Old Navy
and here are the contenders:

The two blue ones are my favorites. It might come down to which one isn't too long. I love me a maxi dress, but I'm too short!!

Score!

In my earlier post, I wrote about how easy it was to make a baby blanket out of flannel. Today I ran to Walmart to drop something off for Jason and decided to go in an look at the fabric just for fun.
I visit teach a sister who is having a baby girl in June, so I thought I could pick something out to make for her.

Then I spotted the sign: FLANNEL SALE $2.50 a yard! I was so excited. That comes out to one blanket costing
$5 to make, you can't beat that.
So I might have gone a little cray cray:
They were so cute I couldn't resist. Those little turtles melted my heart. And I LOVE those pink owls.
I almost picked the "boy" version when
I made Bonnie's blanket.

 This ones my favorite:
Isn't this the cutest?!

And I can wash it all at the in-laws for
free this weekend.
Perfect!

Tutorial Tuesday: Easy-Peasy Baby blanket

If you're like me, sewing straight lines pretty much sums up your sewing skills. When I got the invitation to my friend Bonnie's baby shower, I knew I wanted to make her something.

I started googling "easy baby blanket" ideas,
and I found this gem:

It just takes two 1-yard pieces of flannel, sewn together like when you make a pillow.
(Sew inside out, leave a hole so you can turn it right-side out again, then sew all around the edge again.)

Click the link for a better explanation,
and step by step pictures.
My one tip is to not let the sewing machine get
away from you.
(I have this habit of letting it go too fast so my seam allowance gets messed up.) Just take it slow!
In the end, you get a light-weight blanket that is a lot more practical than a super thick quilt.

Life is good.

It just hit me: I graduate in less than 4 months.
Holy crap. Sometimes I can't sleep I'm so excited.
This was taken when my parents dropped me off back in August 2008. SO long ago!!

I can't wait to live in Utah so close
to (most of) our families.

We're going to be living with Jason's parents in Cedar Hills, and I'll start working as a substitute teacher while Jason HOPEFULLY
starts school at the University of Utah.

Words cannot express how happy I will be to see Rexburg in my rear view mirror.

President Monson Printables

I didn't watch the Young Women's broadcast this weekend, but a blog I follow made some AMAZING printables with quotes from our prophet. The original downloads can be found here at Lolly Jane
(Teaching about curfew)
I can't wait for conference this weekend!
Stay tuned for my favorite quotes made
into printables.

Weekend Happenings

Friday we got to see The Hunger Games! It was nice because our theater let us reserve our seats so we didn't have to stress about that part. The movie was good, but didn't really live up to my expectations. I just wish they had spent more time developing the relationships between characters. SO much went unsaid. Funny, Jason and I seem to be the only people who didn't really like it.

Saturday I went to my friend Bonnie's baby shower. She was my roommate a few years ago and is one of my closest friends. So excited to meet her little man next month when he's due!
I made her this flannel baby blanket:
I'll share the tutorial later. This was so simple, and I'll be making lots more of
these in the future.

Sunday: Don't get me wrong, we love teaching primary. But today was such a nice day because only 3 of our 6 kids were there. It must have been spring break this week or something. So church was a lot less stressful, and then we came home and took our usual Sunday naps. (8:30 church aint no joke!)

Looking forward to this coming week, we're driving down to Utah on Thursday for conference weekend!

Springtime!

We decided to kick spring off by doing some intense spring cleaning yesterday. Holy cow, I am literally sore from all that scrubbing. (Sad, I know.) I'm proud of myself for finally getting around to cleaning my least favorite things: The shower, oven, and kitchen tile grout. YUCK!

And my sweet husband even cleaned the window tracks & blinds on his day off! (He's a keeper.) Hopefully this makes moving in July easier.
I'm not looking forward to the deep cleaning.

In happier news, my TOMS came today!
(Please excuse the whiteness, its been a long winter!)

Can't wait to sport these this spring/summer!!
Now if that snow would just stay away, I'd be happy.

Weekend Happenings...

Friday we decided to go try this place called Big Juds.
They are supposed to have famous,
delicious burgers so we figured before
we move away in July we should try it out.

It was alright, but not worth the drive in my opinion. We could have driven 10 more minutes and been at Red Robin instead, and that would have been WAY better. Oh well, at least we tried!

Saturday I got up early to be a hair model for a friend interviewing at a salon. Aside from the lack of sleep it was great to get a free haircut and help her out. She was a trooper working with my SUPER damaged hair, and its nice to have some style back.
Later on we went out to find the Girl Scouts because this is the last weekend they're selling cookies. We were happy to find them at the grocery store, and we stocked up:
Sunday was pretty normal,
we went to church, took a nap, then headed off to have dinner with some friends. They taught us how to play "Monopoly Deal," and I think I'm addicted!
 It was so much fun.

Glad to be starting another week.
Can't wait to see The Hunger Games on Friday!!!!

Decisions, Decisions...

With our anniversary looming right around the corner, I struck a deal with Jason about what to get each other. We decided that he gets a second XBOX controller and I get a pair of TOM'S.

Now I have to decide from the millions of styles out there!! Here's what I've narrowed it down to:

I think I'm leaning towards the grey ones because they can go with EVERYTHING. I used to have grey slip-on Van's and they were my FAVORITE shoes. But those others are cute too.

Oh, the choices!

Wild and Crazy Weekend!

Ok, so life here has been a little nuts. Friday I got an unexpected text from a friend who needed my help.

She's prego, was home alone, and experiencing some intense back pain. I stayed with her for awhile and it was fun to get some girl talk in.

Jason found out that he didn't get accepted to BYU (they're a bunch of punks), and so we've been trying to figure out plan B.

Apparently his major (Chemical Engineering) is SUPER rare, and is offered at very few colleges (None in Idaho and only two in Utah).

So now we're waiting to hear back from University of Utah, and if that doesn't work out Jason is going to have to take some time off school.

Either way, we're still moving to Utah in July. I literally can't sleep at night because I'm so excited to get the heck out of here. I'm done with Idaho, and never EVER want to come back if I can help it.

Things to look forward to:
-Tax money showing up any day now. (That means money for crafting!)
-Our two year anniversary in April
-Trip to Utah on the 4/11, & we'll get to see Mason and Heather (Jason's siblings that live in CA.)
-SPRING!!
-Starting my last semester EVER.
