Gifts!!

Not to brag, but I consider myself to be a good gift-giver. I love thinking of gifts that have special meaning, and that will last. Of course I love getting those kind of gifts too. =)

Jason's parents and Heidi came to visit us this weekend, and they
brought with them a little surprise...

This quilt:

Jason's mom and Grandma have been busy working on this comforter, made from some of our polka-dotted wedding table cloths and using our wedding colors.

I absolutely LOVE it! Its perfect for summer because its not too heavy,
and it really brightens up our room.

Since joining the Henderson/Bigelow family I have been the lucky recipient of 3 quilts. One from Jason's aunt Debbie:
2 from his Grandma:
I also have a "snuggle blankie" that my Aunt JoAnne made for me years ago:
I'm so grateful for these gifts and I'm excited to have them last a long time. My mom was given quilts from her mom, grandma, and older sister over the years and we used them ALL the time growing up. Family is very important to me, especially since I lost all of my grandparents before age 8.

I'm so excited for my kids to be able to use these blankets and know that their grandma/great-grandma/ or great-aunt made them. I'm sure there are more quilts in our future, especially since I'm DYING to get my own sewing machine

What a year!

Its hard to believe that Jason and I have been married a whole year! Crazy. Being married is the greatest. We've had so much fun living together and getting to know each other even better.

Here's what I've learned about Jason in the past year:

-He only snores if he falls asleep on his back.
-He can make lasagna from scratch, and its delicious.
-He is VERY hard to wake up in the mornings.
-He's kind of a pack-rat.
-If he's really tired, he'll "sigh" in his sleep (sometimes sounds more like a "grunt")...drives me nuts!

Here's what he's learned about me:

-I have food cravings worse than a prego lady.
-I steal the blankets...a lot.
-I like to keep things neat...especially my kitchen.
-I take really fast showers.
-I REALLY don't like having to kill bugs.
-I'm not afraid to give him a shove if he starts snoring or "sighing".

We've also learned that we really like being married and that being together for eternity will be the best!

Fun with Evie

This past week I stayed in Utah a little longer so I could watch Evelyn for a few days when Nellie and Ryan were working. We had some fun!!

On Monday, Jason was still there and he and Evie got some playing time in before lunch. It was so funny, Evie got it in her head that she wanted to make a "birds nest" with the left over easter eggs from Sunday. Then she put her stuffed lions on top to keep the eggs warm...
These 2 also had fun "hiding from Jen," and "bouncing" on my air mattress. Evie sure loves her Uncle Jason! After he left for Rexburg, every time my phone went off she'd say "Jason?" or  "I want to see him again."

Tuesday night I had some fun painting Evie's nails!! That was the cutest thing I've ever seen. She was very excited to have "red toes like Jen" even though all we had was purple. After we were done she insisted that I take my socks off so she could see my "tosies." Nellie and Ryan definitely have a girly-girl on their hands.
Evie fell asleep on my lap numerous times while I was visiting, but this time she insisted on having a pillow behind her back...looks interesting.
Now I'm back home in Rexburg, and I keep finding myself telling Jason funny things Evie did or said. She's talking up a storm and cracks me up everytime. Nellie said she asked Evie if she missed me and she said, "Yeah. I wanna see her again."

Family time!

This past week my whole family was together in Provo/Spanish Fork for some family time. We haven't all been together since August, so this was very exciting! I drove down on Tuesday (Jason had to work) and stayed at Nellie and Ryan's house.

Some highlights from the week include:

Wednesday: Walking around BYU and shopping at the bookstore

Thursday: Having a party to celebrate Opening day, watching the Giants game, and eating YUMMY food at Suzanne and Ryan's house in Spanish Fork.

(Evie was being really fussy during the game and then she randomly said: "I wanna snuggle Jen!" so I put her on my lap, and she fell asleep within minutes!)

Friday: One family tradition we have is to go bowling on campus at BYU, so we did that on friday night, and introduce my parents and Nathan to Pizza Pie Cafe afterwards. YUM!
(Evie used this rack to bowl, and she was REALLY good. She got 4th place out of our whole family...I only beat her by 1 point!)

Saturday: We all went to Suz & Ryan's house in Spanish Fork for breakfast and to watch conference. Jason got into town around 5 and went with all the boys to Priesthood. All us girls headed out for ladies night. We started off by going to Deseret Book and stood in line to get a free wall-hanging. It was SOOOO windy, but we survived. After that we went to the Provo Town Mall and just walked around for awhile.
(we're all color coordinated!! That wasn't planned!)

Sunday: what a day!! We all woke up super early only to find that there was like 3-4 inches of snow on the ground and it was FREEZING. Conference was AMAZING! It was my first time going, and it was great. I got to hear some of my favorite Apostles speak (Uchtdorf & Bednar), and the Mo Tab sang my all time favorite hymn as the closing song (Spirit of God). It was such a great experience and I'd love to do it again!
After we came home, we had some delicious beef stew that Mom cooked in the croc pot while we were all gone (genius!!). The boys made a snow man after the 2nd session of conference, and then we had an easter egg hunt just for fun!

Now its a new week, and my family is back home in Fairfield. I'm sticking around to help watch Evie while Nellie starts working as assistant manager at the Orem Old Navy. I'll do another post about the adventures I'll be having this week!
