We had a lot
of fun this year celebrating Independence Day. Since we recently moved to South
Salt Lake, we were excited to learn there were a bunch of fun activities going on
right by our house. We celebrated a little early on the 3rd because
we both had the day off.
First, we
had some business to take care of and took Marlene to the doctor for her 4
month checkup and the poor girl had to get some shots. When we were all done,
we got on the freeway so she would fall asleep. We headed south down to the
mall in Murray and had fun exploring it for the first time.
After a
while we headed back home and grabbed some KFC for dinner (very American) and
then Jason got to pick out some fireworks for an early birthday present. That’s
a tradition of ours because he LOVES them.
Marlene went
to sleep around 8, and then we got to go hang out with our neighbors outside. We’ve
made some great friends here, and it’s nice to live around people our age. We
had fun chatting outside, shooting off firecrackers, and then watching the city
fireworks from our front yard. Marlene slept through EVERYTHING!
The morning
of the 4th we got up early and walked down the street to watch South
Salt Lake’s parade. It was so nice being able to just walk there, and we were
only 10 minutes early and found a great spot in the shade.
Marlene LOVES being outside so I knew she would have a blast watching the parade. The sirens of the police motorcycles didn’t even scare her.
She actually smiled
when they zoomed by.
